As the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence this year, United Airlines is the latest airline to commemorate the semiquincentennial with a special livery. United unveiled the new Stars and Stripes livery on 15 June, featuring an all-blue fuselage and flag motif on a Boeing 787-10 registered N91007 and a Boeing 737-800 registered N78285.
Boeing 787-10 N91007
N91007 is a Boeing 787-10, the largest member of the Dreamliner family. In United service, the 787-10 is most often used on long-haul and high-capacity routes, making it a highly visible aircraft for the special scheme across the airline’s international network and longer domestic routes. After positioning to Chicago, the aircraft will begin international service with a trip to Saõ Paulo and back, followed by a turn to Honolulu.
Boeing 737-800 N78285
N78285, a Boeing 737-800, remains a core part of United’s narrowbody operation, with 141 of the type in the fleet flying many domestic and shorter international routes. With the livery applied to both a widebody and a narrowbody aircraft, the Stars and Stripes design should be visible across a broad range of United destinations.
In its first day of revenue service on 16 June, the Stars and Stripes 737 will visit Chicago, West Palm Beach and New York. Over the next few days the aircraft will visit Chicago, New York, Guadalajara, and Boseman, MT.
