Cathay Pacific has just introduced a new 10% transfer bonus for those in the United States, valid when moving credit card or hotel points. While the bonus isn’t huge, it is better than nothing, and the program is best if you want to redeem directly for flights on Cathay Pacific.
Cathay Pacific offering 10% transfer bonus in United States
Between July 27 and August 28, 2026, Cathay Pacific is offering a 10% bonus when those in the United States convert points from credit card or hotel partners. To take advantage of this, registration is required, and then you can move points from an eligible credit card or hotel partner.
There are two catches here. First of all, you can earn a maximum of 10,000 bonus miles with this offer, which is a pretty low cap. Second of all, the bonus miles will only post within 12 weeks of moving over points, so this isn’t instant — if you have a short term redemption in mind, you’ll need to move the points you need, and then the 10% bonus will be an extra reward you can redeem in the future.
Cathay Pacific’s program partners with Amex Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards, Capital One, and Citi ThankYou. All points transfers are 1:1, except Amex, which only has a 5:4 transfer ratio.
For what it’s worth, Cathay Pacific miles expire after 18 months of inactivity. Any mileage earning or redemption opportunity would reset that timeline.
Is this Cathay Pacific transfer bonus worth it?
The Cathay Pacific Asia Miles program is one that has become increasingly useful over time, even though it’s one I historically haven’t really liked.
The single biggest thing to be aware of is that while Cathay Pacific belongs to the oneworld alliance, Cathay Pacific restricts a vast majority of its first and business class award space to members of the Asia Miles program, so that award space isn’t bookable through programs like Alaska Atmos Rewards and American AAdvantage. That didn’t used to be the case, and it’s the single biggest way that the value of this currency has improved.
There are also some situations where partner redemptions represent a good deal, though I’d say they’re the exception rather than the norm. For example, one valuable partner sweet spot of the program is that when booking through Asia Miles, British Airways flights have lower carrier imposed surcharges than through other programs.
Still, I’d say the primary value here is if you actually want to redeem for travel on Cathay Pacific in a premium cabin, since this is the most practical way to book that.
Bottom line
Through August 28, 2026, Cathay Pacific is offering a 10% transfer bonus to those who move points from a US credit card or hotel program, up to 10,000 miles. The best value here is if you move points from Bilt, Capital One, or Citi. The catch is that it could take months for the bonus miles to post, which limits the usefulness of this if you’re just chasing a single redemption.
I definitely wouldn’t make a speculative transfer to take advantage of this, but if you’re gong to move points anyway, you might as well take advantage of the bonus!
