This information is preliminary and subject to change.

On Tuesday, 14 July 2026, at approximately 08:30 am local time, a LEGO Boeing 747 carrying a LEGO Space Shuttle was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident during a kinetic encounter with a Felis catus. The aircraft and shuttle fell from a desk and impacted the floor. There were no injuries.

The combined 747 and shuttle assembly had been positioned on a desk where the cat was attempting to access the area between the assembly and desk occupant. During the encounter, the assembly departed the supporting surface and descended approximately 36 inches before impacting the floor.

Examination of the accident site revealed that the main wreckage came to rest on the floor adjacent to the desk. The 747’s forward fuselage, vertical stabilizer, and left horizontal stabilizer separated from the aircraft during the accident sequence.

The Space Shuttle sustained multiple structural separations. The structure forward of the cargo bay separated from the vehicle, including the crew compartment and flight deck. The structure aft of the cargo bay, including the transporter engine cover, also separated from the main body of the shuttle. The cargo bay section remained among the main wreckage.

Various bricks and aircraft components were distributed in the immediate vicinity of the main wreckage. No fire or explosion occurred. The wreckage was retained for further examination and reconstruction in a secure facility (pictured below).

The investigation will include examination of the aircraft and shuttle attachment points, the condition of the interlocking brick connections, the position of the assembly on the desk, and the path of the cat prior to contact with the assembly.
